Alexander has written a bit here even as his experiences at Yog 2010 in Singapore:

DSC03649web

It's been a great experience to participate in the Youth Olympic Games 2010, both fencing and all activities have been great to participate in and it's been a great privilege to be allowed to be part of Yog the 2010th

The days before competition day was spent to train, low quiet activities like visiting the Danish ambassador or relax by the pool. On 17 (Competition days) was a great experience because it felt like it was a great finale with many spectators and a great set-up. First you had to pool fencing on seatningen for elimination, this did not go quite as I hoped when I get very bad start. I had trouble finding myself, and began to fence a little bit of good towards the end of the pool. This meant that I had a difficult first game when I was sitting on the sixth Seated Choi from HKG as I struck out for the World Cup in Baku. I fought a good fight against Choi and stole the safe 15-9. In the quarterfinals I had to meet European rankings no.1 Babauglu where I unfortunately Having performed at the beginning and although I found myself in the end, it was too late and I had to see me beaten 9-15 and finished No. 8

The successor generation day was also amazing here I had started with the Olympic education program CEP are mainly aimed to learn about other cultures and the Olympic values in between, I found and the other Danish athletes also time for other activities like seitseeing, relax by pool and beach trips.

It's been 18 super day, every day has been an experience in itself and I am looking forward to seeing you all again.

Nordic farm - Here sleeps all the athletes from the Nordic countries.

Here comes so what might be my last post from Singapore. I will still try to log the happy teenager to write a little myself. But I think Alexander needs to get the whole trip a little distance before he can completely articulate what has happened the last several days. Otherwise, someone might be tempted to call it Malte blog instead of Alexander's blog?

Youth Olympic Games 2010 in Singapore coming to an end. We just got home from the closing ceremony, where once again the max of fireworks, celebration, colors, music and everything you can imagine. Singapore can be very proud of the great job they have done over the last 12 days. Who could have imagined that you could find 20,000 volunteers! Who could have imagined that you could manage well 3,500 teenagers virtually gidningsfrit? It's been a mammoth task to accomplish - but I know I speak for the entire Danish delegation when I say "well done Singapore!".

It has been the sport's answer to the United Nations. Here the North Korean coaches could eat breakfast with their South Korean brethren. Here the Iranians trained and fought alongside the Americans - this sport has been in focus, unity, friendship, multicultural and different has been embraced with joy.
IOC has for many years been criticized for corruption and other filth. A good chunk of it has been justified, but you can never take away from the IOC that it keeps the Olympic ideals high and goes to work with enormous dedication and seriousness. It helps to create a forum where young athletes can come together from around the world, make friends and create multicultural unity. I think that events like this in the long run may lead to fewer conflicts and wars in the world.

On the way to workouts at YOV - Alexander here in front of the hockey rink and then Pandora (rain) in the background.

Can you say anything negative about the 12-day fantastic Olympic experience. That can be enough good. Because maybe youth Olympics suffocating in its own success and greatness. It's been a tremendous set-up, which almost gives a breath when you think about it. Youth Olympics can not attract the same ticket sales and television revenue in the normal Olympics can. It costs huge sums to pay, and requires the support of an entire community if it should even be hope for loop.
Cities can solve this task are very few in the world. Olympics tab was last night handed over to the mayor of Nanjing. The Chinese should probably find a few billion yen and an army of "volunteers" to fire an Olympics of. But can it hold past 2016? It will be interesting to see?
Winter Youth Olympics will be held in Insbruk in 2012. It is significantly less than Yog with just over 1200 athletes, so it'll probably be fine. But the question remains - how will the IOC to develop the idea of Youth Olympic Games now? Everyone I've met say it's like normal, just smaller.

Personally, it would be a pleasure to teach the other coaches and athletes from Denmark to know it. We have spent many hours talking about the way we train and how we find and develop talent. Common to all of us is that we are deeply serious about our sport, we are all experts and all striving for the best in its field.
Today I sat an hour in the bus where I had the pleasure to sit next to badminton legend Morten Frost. Few people in the world has so many stories up his sleeve like him. It inspires and gives new energy to the next time talent work, when you speak with a trained amber as Morten.

Yesterday will probably best be remembered for one of the most insane handball matches in living memory. Denmark should play finals with Russia and the entire Danish delegation showed up. So were almost all Danes living in Singapore.
Handball Coaches had previously stated that it would be virtually impossible to win the match. But either had not heard their girls after, or had they not had that said to the girls. Since the entire showdown would take a different direction than expected.
At one point well along in the second half, Denmark was behind with 6 goals against Russia, and all the fears seemed to come true. But suddenly two mad with the girls and everything was turned into a two goal lead, and so did Denmark, at the Games' penultimate day, won gold!
It was amazing touching to see all Danes in Singapore, which had painted Danish flags on fabric and at best had improvised his way to becoming a great cheerleader.
Crown Award was also present and was popular as always. The Australian team that was in the hall of cheering Denmark, turned out to be the biggest Frederick fans that day. Once they found out who Fred was and that he was married to her the sweet girl from Tasmania, so yes, our dear Prince under total siege for a whole hour. It seems that the Danish royal family, is the Australian monarchy. At least he was incredibly attractive prey for the Australian lentils.
We were at the hall and got some food and coaches celebrated with a beer and the joy was great. We looked forward to hearing "There is a lovely country" and see all our Danish-Australian Prince of several medals. But næææ no, that was not to go. We had been given misinformation and came 15 minutes too late! So all that jazz was over before we arrived. When the girls asked where we were located, could was sad enough to answer that we drank beer when they got medals. Where it just sounds stupid in so many ways ...

Glade Danish handball gold girls in the northern farm, where DIF was offered champagne and chips

Tomorrow we go on something called the Sentosa Island which is a kind resort island just outside of Singapore. Very charming if one can ignore the armada of giant tankers and container ships lying just out of Sentosastranden. It is DIF has invited you to relax and it'll be super good.
Then we would otherwise return to YOV and put our stuff. So off to the airport and fly at just over one night, 28 August.

Finally, there is probably only saying thank you to the volunteers, DIF, Morten Rotwitt who was chef de mission, all the Danes in the team and Singparore. And simultaneously keep in mind that none of this would have been possible without all of Alexander's training buddies back home in the club and all who have supported him in his path to fencing greatness. A new Danish Olympic fencer born, more will come and Alexander are now looking forward to returning to the Olympics again someday.

Now I just hope there are some good movies on the flight home.

HOT DAY! and school visits PDF Udskriv Email

Alexander and Crown Prince Frederik

What you remember about different days of your life? There were days when I got my first Lego castle, there were days when you could mark his first skate tooth, there was the hurricane in 1999, there were days when Alexander qualified for the Olympics. Then there's the 24th August 2010. One might think that the day was remembered because I greeted the crown price for the first time, but oh no. On 24 August will Malte head always be remembered for being completely insane-bashing-huge-mega-gigantic-glo-ness. Exactly how hot it was today, there is probably no one ever finds out, except maybe a geek at NASA - but I might guess at 1000 degrees or perhaps a little more? The fact is that I never ever sweated so much and for so long that today.

The day started with Alexander and I went to the first training after the Games regatta. We had made an agreement with Alexander Tofalides from Great Britain who was fencing with our own Alexander (a little footnote here is that you can get confused about the number of boys named Alexander at the Olympics. But there are so many as four - our own, one from the U.S., one from the Czech Republic and saw him from the GBR).
We had come all that way from the fence tail in YOV. A fairly long walk, rear heat of approx. 15 minutes. Here Einstein Malte, so out I've forgotten my fægtesko and must go back again. The rear heat. It is around this time that my body activate all the sweat coats the body. I come back again after another walk, rear heat, only to encounter a single Alexander ready to get lesson - here I begin to sweat a little more.
So are we back to our rooms, rear heat - or maybe better to say boiling hot because now we are approaching dinner. At first we thought that we would meet the Crown stay here, but we should not. He was 15 minutes away in the hot dining hall. Then off again. It is now a good bit hotter than before. I also started with tee No. 3 at this time, which I borrowed from my French roommate. T-shirt has the less it is purple and every sweat stain becomes immensely clear. And just as I pity myself and virtually no powers anymore, so pop a gaily Crown up. It's hard to be sociable, fresh and present when your head full of snot that after a three-day battle with a cold and also have hot flushes as a woman in menopause. All welcome nicely on Prince Frederik "Hey Michael from cycling, hello Alexander from fencing, Nynne from archery" and me "howdy howdy you." Think again ... it was all I could find to say.
So we were back again to take a group picture. We came home in our yard where I hurry up to skfite t-shirt. Coming down in a tank top, as going down the stairs will be just as soaked as my previous t-shirt. I look forward to seeing the pictures as athletics coach train. I fear I am like a wet bodies - or something like that?
Finally slipping prince. Alexander is busy telling everyone that you do not sweat when you are half Greek. And is not slow to notice his trainer's overheated condition and says the real Copenhagen Kastrupsk-teenagesk "Shiiiit Malte man! You 'damn mega wet there! What happens to you! "Thanks Alexander, I love you too. Fortunately he gets the idea to take down the pool, and you're happy with his fencer again. Hitting the water in the pool that day, 24 August 2010 is probably the closest you when ecstatic well-being. When I hit the water it must have resembled an exploding steam boiler. It is without doubt the best and most important trip to a pool in the 30 years the world has had the pleasure of my acquaintance.

Pool trip was short. Because we were 8 pieces to visit the Danish school in Singapore. It was a fantastic experience. It was incredible to meet all these Danes in the Far East. Many of them have never set a foot in Denmark, yet they meet every day to learn Danish and talk with other Danes. They were so unbelievably happy to see us. We had to sign autographs, as if we were movie stars, they questioned us about everything they would give us hand and had to be taken pictures in tons. I had taken my fleur banquets and mask - it was a big hit. They were standing in a guard and made the outcome and I talked and drew on rapier, swords and fleur lavatories. They asked for Alexander (which was still at the pool), what had happened and much more.

Malte sign and tells of the Danish school - here are exposed 5th Class of fencing sport many secrets

I especially remember two brothers who had great difficulty in expressing themselves correctly in Danish. But they struggled to make themselves understood and with a beautiful blend of English and Danish, but they said something like "Excuse me mr. Can flip ongoing basis when you hit with the point? ". It was very exciting to meet the little Dane colony of Singapore, and now it makes slightly more sense when the queen in his New Year speeches remember to say Happy New Year to the many Danes south of the border and throughout the world.

Swim Leo Alexander at his new home pool

Back from our long trip to Singapore is now just a few workouts, a handball finals and maybe a shopping spree. It's hard to imagine that the trip was looking forward to for so long now, soon be over. But we look more and more to come back. But still enjoying every Previ second of our stay, whether it is a warm and hot second or not.
Each day has been exciting and inspiring in its way, and I think I speak for Alexander when I say that we are about to be quite exhausted on top of all impressions. It's going to take a long time before we fully understand everything we've learned about our fencing, about the Olympics, the other sports, other cultures, languages and about ourselves. But I do know, however, that we appear to be extremely positive and it becomes a pleasure to share the experience we have had.

Snotty, Judo, zoo and the Crown Prince PDF Udskriv Email

A very warm and very very snotty Malte at Singapore Zoo. Note the cheeky Puma polo shirt - this is how the Danes out when we are really smart.

So I'm back .. It took a little longer than planned it is partly because I have grown to become snotty. One thing you just should realize is this; Living in the tropics with extreme heat and humidity goes insanely well with snotty! There is no feeling like having hot flushes, and sneeze attacks simultaneously. So I've been a little lethargic the last few days.
The whole thing is probably due to the good singaporegensere enjoy air conditioning in an amount which you can hardly understand. You go easily from 32 degrees to 14 Normally, 14 degrees might not be a problem for a hardened Viking, like myself. But 14 degrees feels like arctic cold when you've been sweating all day outside. It has probably been more than my sensitive membranes able to cope?

The great Alexander has become super good friends with several of the Danish delegation. Especially Michael from cycling and Phuc from judo, so he is pretty self-propelled. Phuc also won bronze yesterday, becoming the first Dane to win a medal at this Olympics.

DSC03850web

Cai Phuc and his coach Kim Christiansen after Phuc became the first Dane to win the medal. There will hopefully more ...

Today we enjoyed a tour of the world, probably, best zoo. It is without doubt the closest you come Jurassic Park without having to Hollywood. Getting closer to animals than anywhere else and it's all housed in a rainforest, so the animals appear to see much more at home just off than you are accustomed to. You walk through the corridors of large trees, where vines hang down from everywhere. However, we must say that the polar bear seemed a bit misplaced, hastened was done to keep it cool. Actually, the polar bear cave the most comfortable place to be, purely temperature wise.

The whole thing is not just sightseeing and tourism for us. Alexander does his strength program in the very well equipped weight training room down here. We increase normally during a dip in the pool, where Alexander, much against his will, also will be asked to tweak a couple of tracks. Although he makes a virtue out of that patch of sunlight by an every conceivable occasion.
There are also asked a fencing room available for us in YOV as we embark on fencing daily life again on 24 August. Here we get, among other things, also visit the crown prince, who come and say hello. Now we'll see if we can remember to say they, them and their - His Royal Highness, etc. I'm probably most worried about the teenager remembers it, but we'll see. Prince Frederik's become IOC member and have probably been here throughout Yog. It is said to crown the price come to see where we live .. my concerns for teenagers is getting worse.
Afterwards we slip out and say hello to the Danish school. Believe it or not. But that is pure fact a school here in Singapore, with approx. 150 Danish students. Some of them have never been to Denmark. So I take fleuretterne with and then we show's out and entertain.
I have put Alexander to recruit Dauphin children to fencing, I take myself so the kids in Singapore. However they can be be concerned about the long commute transportation between Ryparken and Singapore. But when Gate can take from Sealand's Point then Borge from Singapore probably also pull up stakes and go to Lyngbyvej 110, three times a week, right?

We think highly of you all, and we often talk about how lucky we are to get from Triangle. There are many reasons to Alexander and I ended up going to the Olympics. The vast majority of reasons to be found in our home base at Copenhagen City Heart, and all the fantastic people who have their lives in the Triangle. It must be nice to see you all again!

DSC03662web

As you can see the entire triangle was present during the Olympics. The nice banner in the background meant everything to us!

Lyo and Merley fencer at the official Olympic fencing poster.

The days go fast game down here. Sometimes when the day's program is over are you just tired game and then you have to sleep right away. That's why I do not always get written on the blog here. But today there was a quiet moment and then it's just about finding your computer speed.

Let me elaborate a little about what went on at a fencing day on Tuesday.
It was a day of many mixed emotions. On the one hand, Alexander and I obviously sorry to the fighting in the pot went bad. On the other hand, the course either be or better, than that Alexander had a good but affordable opponent in the top 16, and came neatly on to top 8 One must never be so arrogant that you can not appreciate the top 8 for the Olympics!
So if anyone is in doubt, we are mighty pleased with the top 8 position. We're also competitive people and had probably hoped that Alexander could beat Babaoglu from Turkey. But this was a good turkey for stable and Alexander lacked just a little to get his game to function fully in the fight.

It meant also saw that although Alexander finished in the top 8 so he is not among the top four euro bulb for the Olympics. The consequence was then that Alexander did not come to fencing mixed teams yesterday. We were a little sad, because it had always been a part of the plan. But that was after the World Cup in Baku aside an additional 3 fleuretfægtere on wildcards. Anyone from Europe and there were only four European teams in total. So three euro bulb were thus not to fence mixed teams - among them Alexander. Ugh! Second, there is shown not to say to that?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=js_Ehwo4tmI
Link to some pictures from the mixed teams event.

We spent the day yesterday to relax. For the first time since the World Cup in Belfast seemed we have shown both to be able to relax completely. It was fantastic and I think Alexander has enjoyed a quiet day, at least as much as me. One must look at the Olympics has been in our thoughts every day since Belfast. It takes more of one than you think. It's a nice feeling that we can now look forward to other exciting fægteevenetyr and let her creativity come across exciting new projects.
We have 8 days left here in the tropics and they needed to see a lot of sports. Including Judo, where Cai Phuc be in the fire tomorrow. Phuc and Alexander have been really nice friends on the trip and Phuc was a great help for Alexander during a fencing tournament. He came with heckling, waved flags and held triangle fine banner high, so Alexander could find a focus to get in top 8 It is of course acknowledged with similar support from the Danish fencing delegation. It should be for the record is said to Flemming from Badminton also gave the full spade as a supporter of fencing. He was just knocked out by himself, so he unfortunately we can not help. Handball girls will today Friday (yes it's Friday for us, and Thursday for you). But we must also follow at 14.00 today where they will play against Australia.

SNC00081web

Here I am to Judo training. If you wonder where you come from when their SMR on the back, then I can tell that it is the sole medal nation of San Marino. If you also wonder about Malte has new ideas for training at home in Ryparken after his visit to the Judo-boys, so have guessed exactly right!

I hear from me again soon!
