WHAT IS fencing?

Fencing is a modern sport that develops your ability to concentrate, your balance, your strategic sense and also good exercise.

In modern sport fencing, you can fence the 3 arms Foil, Epee and saber:

FLEURS

Fleuretten has a flexible rectangular blade is approx. 90cm long and weighs about 500g total. Fleuretten have a little spring switch mounted in the tip. This switch is connected to a wire running through the blade back to a reporting device that detects touches. Touche achieved by sticking to the opponent's torso with a force of at least 500g.

On the foil is only valid hits field torso:

Fleurettens rules and history
The rules for fleuretfægtning can seem complicated. The idea is that you must attack the right to get points. Attack Court won by offensive action or a parade of the opponent's blade under the opponent's offensive action. An offensive action is defined as "a forward movement with the weapon or body" This means that only one of the fencers can score points (touch) at a time. If it happens that the fencers hit each other simultaneously, in the authentic wooden box will be awarded to the Point who have attacked the court.
Most start with foil. Here you learn the basic techniques that are also used in the other two weapons.
You learn to attack and you learn the basic parades. Both can be done in many ways. You also learn to anticipate your opponent's next action - you learn to "read your opponent."
Fleuretten was initially meant as school weapons. It was used to teach young noblemen duel skull art, so they were prepared for real fights.

Epee

Smallsword triangular blade is as fleurettens approx. 90cm long. Overall, the sword with its approx. 750g the heaviest of the 3 weapons. Like fleuretten sword has a little spring switch mounted in the tip. The mechanics of the two arms are nearly identical. You just need to bump the sword with a pressure of 750g. Blade triangular shape with a groove through gives it great strength while still flexible. Groove in the blade, often mistakenly called "blodrillen", used to keep the lead from the tip back to touch the bowl. Smallsword bowl is a bit larger than fleurettens, the reason for this is that the hand is also valid wooden box on rapier. Touche achieved as the foil by stabbing the opponent, here simply a force of at least 750g.

In Epee the whole body is valid wooden box:

Sword rules and history
Sword is the weapon that comes closest to the original dueling weapon both in appearance and manner of fencing on. There is no angrebsret, meaning that the hitting gets points. Therefore, both fencers also, unlike in foil, a few points simultaneously. One should not only frame your opponent, you should also avoid getting hit yourself. This means that speed in a battle of sword is generally slightly slower than the foil or saber.

Sabel

Saber has approx. same length, and weight as fleuretten.
The first ca. 1 / 3 part of the saber blade is triangular, then faces it out so that you have a stable but very flexible blade. To protect your fingers against squatting is the bowl on the saber a lot bigger than the other weapons.
Touche achieved by squatting or plug in the opponent's torso.

On the scabbard is valid upper body hit box:

Sables rules and history
Sables roots as rider weapons has led to engagements box above waist level. It was not fair to damage the opponent's horse.
The attacks consisted therefore mainly provide the blow of the belt. This has caught it until today. Besides squatting connectors are also allowed as in the other two weapons.
Sabel is thus both a blow and plug weapons opposite Epee and foil only plug weapons. Additional separates sword from the other two arms with a squat or jack does not require a certain pressure, but just a touch of the opponent's valid wooden box. Velocity in saber fencing released today both in Epee and Foil.

PISTE
The fight takes place on the piste, which is 14 x 2 meters. Below are the division:

Signaling Device: Detects when fencers hit each other, and shows with colored lights who gets Touche.
Middle row: Pistes midpoint.
En-Garde Lines: Awaits fencers until referee starts the match.
Warning Lines: Fencers know that there are two meters to the end line when the warning line exceeded.
End line: Exceeds fencers end line interrupted the match and the opponent given a touch.
Side Lines: Exceeds fencers one of the side lines interrupted the match and his opponent move two feet forward.
Security Zones: For the sake of the safety fencing shall be behind the piste at least two feet to escape on.

MATCH
At competitions preliminary rounds fencer who to five touches or 3 minutes. If the score is tied, fencing an additional minute or until one of the fencers have been a touch. In the finals fencer who for 15 touches over 3x3 minutes with 1 minute rest between each lap. The battle is led by a magistrate whose primary role is to decide who gets to touch and to keep track of them.
In foil and saber, it is up to the judge with help from the reporting unit to determine who has the right to touch. On the sword is usually no doubt about who has got a touch, both fencers can hit simultaneously. The judge's main task is here to keep track of the points. Common to all three arms are the judge's task to ensure that FIE's (Federation International d'Escrime - the international fencing federation) rules are respected - including the classic fair play rules.
These rules include:
To greet his opponent before and after the game.
Al provocation (physical / mental) is anathema.
