vetem09When the age of 40 years, acquisition was made to the right to call himself a veteran of the fencing sport. And with that title comes the possibility of participating in European Championship for veterans, which this year was held at the turquoise Lake Balaton in Hungary. The Danish delegation consisted of fencers Erik Pock, Jorgen Kock, Peter Friis and Lene Jensen Co.. was the participants' families, as we grabbed the chance and combined EM with a 10-day holiday in Hungary.

We were all well up to Budapest? or say. all except George and Peters fencing equipment, which had disappeared without trace after baggage lodgment in Kastrup. Wild resurrection, but we were confident that was the more days they were fencing, and how difficult could it be the airport to recognize a fencing bag and have it sent by?

After a day sightseeing in Budapest we went to Lake Balaton, where we are in glorious summer weather was billeted in a hotel in a beautiful old mansion not far from the fencing hall. I was the first Dane in combat in foil. Unfortunately this was not very great, and I promised myself to take revenge on the sword to save my honor. This succeeded beyond all expectations, and I had to once again note that I achieved a better location than the sword, foil, which does have 'my' weapon. Hmm - what can you perhaps learn from it?

Then it was the men's tour. Peter struck, like myself, to the sword rather fleuretten and placed in the top 32nd And Pock & Kock found in the degree, and both reached the final round rankings at number 7, respectively, Epee and foil, which was celebrated with beer and good Hungarian food. And we must say that Denmark, with two top 8 positions out of a delegation of only 4 players, got tagged a really strong veteran front.

For holiday and EM's output could heal the delegation to look back on a good and very pleasant ride that everyone (including the delegation's youngest participant Rasmus at 1 year) had enjoyed. But George and Peters equipment - well, we have not seen anything yet. So on the classic question 'how was your tip? "When you do not just hit the wooden box, they were both in good conscience say:' I do not know. Last I saw it was in Heathrow! '.
