So are most of us back in Denmark again, and it's time for a little rally report from northern France and the European Championship for veterans. The troops were gathered on Wednesday 2nd June at the beautiful, old hotel on the square in Douai, where Jorgen Kock cleverly, had decided that we would live instead of in Hernin-Beaumont, where the European Championships took place. And when Ferenc, Pål Jørgen, Reinhard and supporters (families) had arrived a little before us (Peter, myself and supporters), they had also come to check the city's best restaurant, so we had a permanent meeting place on days when we held joint dinners. The sun shone, it was good and was in the basement banquet hall where Ferenc gave lessons. And so to the sport. We might as well say it now: Hernin-Beaumont is the world's end! We fought in two huge dilapidated metal tennis halls where there was hot as in Helvig ...... Only the lucky ones who reached furthest in the tournament, got access to the beautiful and right temperature gym. And it was unfortunately not us this time. Ferenc gave invaluable coaching, but I was sadly my fleuretfægtning smashed by technical problems (it is uphill when wound into the first two games is defective and you are from Denmark and can not say "up core does not work" in French, and instead get yellow cards for wires, guns, elvest, etc. etc.!). Only when there was a Frenchman involved, it was found that spindles were indeed defective and was replaced. Bummer! Because with all the yellow cards and all the stress I could not keep concentration. Tilgengæld went my kårdefægtning just fine. At Messrs. so it is quite promising at the sword, but unfortunately slipped it reflected none, so we had unfortunately no fencers in the top 32nd Now Reinhard and George ran on to the European medicine Championships in Germany in order to fence again, and later this year, World Cup veterans. And so we just try again! With lots of training, Ferenc's lessons and on the right day to be, will get top results with home again. Mange hilsner PS: Big thanks to Ferenc for lessons and invaluable coaching for all of us and for our supporters Suzanne Helle, Yvonne, John and Rasmus, who followed us in the ups and downs with and without arms :-) Results: |
