Fencing Club Triangle has been very busy the last two weekends. This weekend had triangle many fencers in Malmö and in the central German city of Halle. The results from Halle was not great this time. Actually thought the Danish delegation to be affected by anything that might remind you of Tycho Brahe day - which meant that Stefan Everitt ended up in hospital with an injury he suffered in the first match in the second pool and a variety of unfortunate circumstances.
So while the crisis was at its highest in Germany, so could Trekantens young fencers show something more solid results in Malmo. Here was a wide range triangle-fencers show that they once again able to win numerous medals home, both individually and in teams. In particular, many will probably remember the triangle boy / girl team's exciting semifinal against Hellerup Fencing Club, where the triangle-fægterne won 43 - 44 The Swedish fencing federation has a fine track record, entitled "The Danish dominance in Malmö." See the results of Jönsson's Trophy here.

Last week, one could read on Malte's blog that had happened to the triangle in Bratislava. But the triangle was also rally in Berlin, and Simon Jeiner wrote in this connection an event report which you can read here:

Berlin - Wittenau

Friday the 18th november drew nine fencers and eight parents off to Berlin to participate in a new bow. New in the sense that the triangle has not previously participated in the regatta, so we had no knowledge of the size, settlement form and opponents' strength.

The regatta takes place in vintage pools which swans are in Germany.

For vintages 2001 and 2000, only fægtet in pools and the size 5 or 6 participants, and all against all in the pot. In the first round pool were all and only the top 24 went on. In the second pool round was only the 18 best on. In the third pool round they went top 10 on and the fourth pool round went the 6 best advancing to the final pot. The winner of the vintage was so the fencer who had the most victories in the final pot. So when the final pool was finished fægterne had fought his way through at least 23 matches.

For boys born 2001, Jonas # 4 out of 25 participants.

For girls born 2000, Sol # 1 out of 27 participants.

For boys born 2000, Maxim No.2, No.3 Jacob, Benjamin 4 and Anton No. 25 out of 31 participants.

For both boys and girls born 2000, there was similarity in the points after completion of the final pot. So Sun had a rematch, also had Maxim and Jacob in rematch against L. Werner. Indeed, the three Germans who had qualified for the finals pool boys 2000 all left-handed fencers. Anton was unfortunate enough to start in a 6 man pool and only win a match. Had the pool been a 5-man pool was Anton joined on and fought for access to top 18

The triangle also had fencers in vintages 1999 and 1998. Here was the tournament shape more like those seen in other competitions. There was fægtet two pools, and then the elimination, with Repechage.

For boys born 1999, Sonny No. 3 and No. 6 Felix out of 44 participants.

For boys born 1998, Mattias # 5 out of 32 participants.

Sonny and Felix lost both to the same venstrehåndsfægter. The total volume results can be seen here:

It is an event with many participants and many skilled fencers. It is a very well organized tournament and will be suitable for skilled tournament players as the new series competitors. In addition, the transport point lies approx. 6 hours from Copenhagen.

A big thanks to our coach Ken Martin, who gave a huge effort, and was a great support for fægterne. Anton's mother Anne - who is from Berlin - was invaluable in getting organized super places to eat, talk about Berlin and much more so practical rounded the rally was also a really good experience.

Finally, an affront to the weather gods who had arranged the dense smoke from Berlin to Copenhagen on the way home.
